Isn’t it all just a balancing act?
A tightrope walker
Gripping a dog’s leash with her toes
The slightest breeze capable of
Suddenly the dog park is slipping out from under her
She is swept up in laughter. In tears.
In the feeling of anticipation at the pit of her stomach
that never really goes away.
She can’t balance when she’s floating
But this world is full of inner tubes. Pool noodles.
Life preserves more commonly known as moments
Fragments of time with pockets filled with emotion
Sometimes we are so busy proving we can balance
We forget we know how to float
